…but on the other hand, I get part of the way through, hit a word count and go “wow, I could get paid for this.”  So, I’m going to sit down and attempt to get through a bit of bloggery just for the sheer hell of it.

Just got back in town from an absolutely fantastic wedding of two good friends, Scott and Donna. It was an amazingly beautiful ceremony at a gorgeous tea house. I’d really have liked to have spent some time tooling around in the mountains nearby, but I had my hands full between socializing and working. Perhaps the next time we get up there we’ll get a chance to head up into the mountains.

I also got to have spanakopita two days running, which was tasty and delicious. I’m telling you right now, good spanakopita is a thing of much win. Between that and the spinach and cheese lasagna I got one night, I can say that food-wise, this trip was a huge success. Om nom nom.

Beyond that, I also got to see Pixirae a couple of times, which was wonderful. It’s been too long since we’d just sat down and talked. Hopefully we’ll get some time to sit down over dinner when she and her other half are down for Convergence 14. I’m thinking TBBC or The Columbia, depending.

I came home to my incredibly messy desk, a pile of mail, and my invitation to E3, so I’m locked and loaded there. I’m curious to see how this year’s show will go considering some of the recent kerfluffle. I also got word that I’ll be attending the SOE Fan Faire in Vegas a little later this year on top of heading for Dragon*Con to party down with the MMOGers help with the MMO track.

I will say that I’m really glad I plonked down the cash for my new custom VAIO. That EVDO connection paid for itself several times over this weekend, and I got a chance to really put it through the paces. It performed incredibly well, so I’m reassured that it will more than kick ass for liveblogging/covering any upcoming shows. I also opted for an additional extended life battery, so short of a 12 hour constant-on run on the floor, I should be in good shape. I can get about 5 - 5 1/2 hours on a full charge, and that’s running the higher-end graphics chip and the EVDO connection. I’m still going to monkey with some of the power-saving options on the machine and see if I can’t eke a bit more battery life. What’s the fun of having a spiffy machine if you can’t figure out all the nifty things you can do with it/ways you can push it?

For now, I believe it’s time for Chinese take-out, sorting through suitcases and getting things scanned and planned for tomorrow. And some Oblivion — veg time is in order.
