New Domain, New Direction
There are really so many things I find myself wanting to say, but half the time they wind up as blurbs by the time I get around to writing. As such, be warned that I will probably continue this aspect of my writing (perhaps via the Twitter sidebar widget I’ve installed instead) thus keeping the blog here for longer rants, op-ed pieces, and the occasional blurb-fest.
Today, you get a blurb-fest, simply because there’s a great deal of ground to cover, and very little time.

I love the start of a new term. I truly do. New knowledge, new challenges, the thrill of deadlines, the challenge of research and coursework, etc. So far as I can tell, I lucked into a group of fabulous Professors this term, so I’m very excited about that in addition to the more-specific target of my heart this term…
What the above is alluding to is that this term I’m focusing on Mass Media & Culture in regards to my coursework. This whole blogging for WoW Insider thing has bitten me hard. I absolutely love it. Admittedly, I need to work on writing more often for public consumption, and finding a nice balanced “voice” as it were. I could use some work on my prolificacy, for that matter.
This is, of course, why I signed up for these courses this term. Here’s the hope that between that, and checking the Poynter Institute out for any related seminars that can help me build my skills, I’ll find some great new tips and tricks.
I should mention that Doc K., who is in charge of my primary MM&C class linked to this Atari 2600 emulator from a semi-hidden page in the coursework section of his class site. Perhaps it’s just me, but any Professor who embeds a page rewarding those who are inquisitive and like to poke around with something fun like that gets some bonus points from me right off the bat.
Beyond that, I’ve spent the lion’s share of my free time lately prepping for Dragon*Con. If this is anything less than stellar, it won’t be from lack of trying. I’m just trying to figure out what photo-host gets the love of hosting my Dragon*Con photo gallery. It’s down to Flickr or Picasa now. (It will undoubtedly be Picasa in the end, simply because Yahoo! owns Flickr, and I despise the shitty things that Yahoo! does to Bloggers. I just truly hate Picasa’s interface.) I have my personal Twitter feed set up as well as the work one, so that will be fun. And of course, not only will I link them, but you have the feed on the right sidebar, if you get curious.
Better still is just to show up at the World of Warcraft Meet & Greet on Friday night at 10pm EST at Dragon*Con and say hello.
Might want to wait until after the shindig, though!
For now, there is coffee to be consumed, a new textbook to look over, and a day to get cracking on.
Ready or not, here I come!

Dude! I still have my Atari 2600 and about 2 boxes of games for it. That was a ground breaking machine.
